In the Beginning . . .

There was a new blog. And she looked at the blank screen and said, “Come forth, ye little words, and present yourselves in a meaningful and orderly fashion.” And the words, they did not obey. They ran hither and yon, evading her desperate reaches and cackling gleefully all the while. She pleaded for their submission, becoming more and more frantic, beating her cheeks like a drum with her two fists and twisting her face into a wrinkly mess. The words kept multiplying. Their increasing din threatened to crowd out every truth she had ever collected. She felt herself growing smaller as the words grew larger, and she knew they were about to overtake her. Finally she screamed, “Come forth, ye mighty, mighty words, and show your indomitable power!” The noise immediately quieted to a low rumble and the running slowed to gentle bounding. She sighed deeply and felt her body relax slightly. She could at least catch the words now, although she could tell they would never be completely still for her. She began the task of gathering her spoils, turning her focus now to the mystery of how she would contain them.
